On a cloudy and very humid day in Kruger National Park we found these buffalos cooling off in a full river after good recent rains during January 2021. The buffalo and river form part of the whole landscape.

Red Rocks Kruger National Park
Shingwedzi area was a reserve before it became part of Kruger National Park in 1926.
Around 1920, Bill Lusk, mined alluvial gold at Red Rocks in the Shingwedzi reserve, not very legal. Today Red Rocks is frequented by animals which come down to drink water. At Red Rocks visitors may get out of their motor vehicles to inspect the site. A good place to see herds of elephant during the dry season.

Full Limpopo river
During November 2020 I did a Safari to the Limpopo province near the town of Swartwater.
There was a great excitement amongst the local farmers as water started to flow into the nearly dried out Limpopo river. I took this image a day later where the water was strongly flowing over a weir after being dry the day before.

Plantation view
Travelling to Mpumalanga for work, the forester who was guiding me to the work site, stopped at this view point so that we could enjoy the view from high above the valley and plantations below.
My travelling companion, the Canon 1 DX, was put to good use.
This image also brings back fond childhood memories as I have had the privilege to grow up in plantations on the side of a mountain not far from where this image was taken.

Moon setting
On my way to deliver stock in the North Western Province early one morning I saw the beautiful moon going down, I franticly looked for a spot to photograph the moon before it was to late. I found a spot with poplar trees fairly close to the road and got a few images. Pleased with myself I drove off to my destination.

We pitched our tents in this camp site and did a few guided walks during our stay. One of the high lights was that we came across elephants close to the camp. I hoped that the black and white image of the gate would enhance the natural setting of the camp site.

Beauty in a dead tree trunk
This dead Mopani tree caught my attention while on a walk during our stay at Struwig. The tree was possibly pushed over by an elephant many years ago. Dead trees play a vital role in the eco systems and also make lovely images, I can imagine this image on wall of a lodge somewhere in the African bush.

Makgadikgadi sunset
As we drove down the two track road, hoping to get to our camp site with some day light to spare. I said to Charles, to many clouds and that we would not get a good sunset. Boy, was I wrong. With sunset the whole sky transformed into a glorious painting, changing with every second, minute passing. I don't know how many images I took, each one different. Needless to say that we got to our campsite very much later than planned and set up camp in the dark
